Being delicious as well as nutritious, it is a favorite dish of everyone from young to old. So, today I am going to share with you through this article, how to make delicious and confectionary carrot halwa recipe at home without mawa.

Carrot Halwa is an Indian sweet. Which are most popular in Punjab. It is also known as Gajarela. Mostly in cold season, it is made by grating carrots and mixing them with milk, mawa, dry fruits, cardamom powder. Due to it being extremely tasty, it is also seen in abundance in sweet shops.In wedding parties, the party seems incomplete without carrot halwa recipe .

How to Make Gajar Ka Halwa Step by Step

Here we have taken 500g medium sized fresh carrots. If you are using big and thick carrots. So cut the carrot into 2 to 4 pieces and remove the white part in the middle.

First of wash the carrot and remove upper skin of carrot from help of vegetable peeler & grater all carrots.।. You can also grate with the help of a electronics mixer.

Put a pan on the gas and add 2 teaspoons of ghee in it.

When the ghee melts, add grated carrots to it and cook for 5 to 10 minutes.

When the carrots are cooked well and become soft,

We have used cow milk here. You can use packet milk but boil the milk before using

Add boiled milk to it and cook in milk on medium flame for 5 to 7 minutes. Keep mixing with a spoon in between, so that the carrots do not stick to the bottom of the pan.

After the milk and carrots are cooked well, add sugar and mix with a spoon, so that the sugar gets mixed evenly in the carrots. And cook the carrots till they release water. You can add more or less sugar as per taste.

we have taken here 10 cashews, 10 to 12 raisins, 6 almonds and 5 cardamom. you are add extra dry fruits as your choice.

After the carrots are completely cooked add all pices of dry fruits cardamom powder and mix.

Turn off the gas. Our carrot halwa is ready. After it cools down a bit, add cashew and almond pieces for decoration and serve.

Special Advice

  • Carrots Always use fresh soft and juicy carrots so that the halwa becomes sweet and tasty.
  • Add sugar only after the carrots are completely cooked. Adding sugar too early can make carrot halwa soggy.
  • Adding 2 spoons of ghee at the end of making halwa gives good texture and shine.
